Mitch Marsh added to Perth Test squad, a chance for Ashes return
Mitch Marsh could join brother Shaun in the Australian Test team for the third Ashes match in Perth, having been recalled to the 13-man squad.
All-rounder Marsh has been brought in as a replacement for South Australian Chadd Sayers, who was an unused squad member through the first two Tests and is still yet to debut.
Marsh has not played for Australia since undergoing shoulder surgery at the beginning of the year, but has been in excellent form for Western Australia and has recently begun bowling again.
The Australian selectors seemingly want some extra bowling cover for what has become a batsman's pitch in Perth, though Marsh's batting form has stood out so far this season.
He scored 141 against Queensland at the WACA, as well as 95 against South Australia and an unbeaten 80 in the final of the limited-overs competition.
Glenn Maxwell will consider himself unlucky, having scored 278 and 96 in successive Shield games for Victoria, but selectors clearly fancy Marsh's pace over Maxwell's spin.
The third Test begins at the WACA on December 14, with Australia holding a 2-0 series lead after victory in Adelaide.
