King Salman on Wednesday received princes, Islamic scholars, ministers and military commanders at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

Earlier, he addressed the Saudi people and Muslims worldwide on the advent of Ramadan, which he said is a holy month of mercy and forgiveness, and an opportunity to accomplish good deeds.

The Kingdom is honored to serve the Two Holy Mosques as well as pilgrims and visitors, he added.

“Saudi Arabia, since its establishment by the late King Abdul Aziz, has worked to maintain the bright image of the Islamic religion, and serve the interests of Muslims and Islamic issues,” the king said.

“When the phenomenon of terrorism emerged, targeting the entire world, the Kingdom worked, and still works, with all its potential, political weight and international position to combat extremism and terrorism,” he added.

“Saudi Arabia affirms through all international platforms that extremism and terrorism do not belong to any religion, civilization, nation, race or culture,” he said.

“The Kingdom seeks to address any threat against security and stability in the world through coalitions with peace-loving states, and by establishing an international center — the first of its kind — to confront extremist ideology and enhance coexistence among the peoples of the world.”

King Salman received phone calls from Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Bahrains King Hamad, Kuwaits Emir Sheikh Sabah, and Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, who congratulated the Saudi monarch on the advent of Ramadan.

King Salman thanked them for the phone calls, and prayed to God to help Muslims in their fast during the holy month and to accept their good deeds.

King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent cables of congratulations on the advent of Ramadan to numerous heads of state of Muslim countries.
