The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has finalized its board of trustees, the group to be led by NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer that will become the governing body of the museum, which is scheduled to open in 2019.

Joining the previously announced Meyer on the board, to be vice chaired by Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, are Academy CEO Dawn Hudson and president John Bailey, Jason Blum (treasurer), Jim Gianopulos, Tom Hanks, Kathleen Kennedy, Ted Sarandos, Cinepolis CEO Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, producer Kimberly Steward (secretary, Diane von Furstenberg and Dolby Labs chief Kevin Yeaman.

“The Academy Museum has already made great strides in raising funds, constructing the site, and developing the exhibition plans that will make this museum an essential destination for visitors and locals who love film,” Meyer said. “Now, with the formation of this Board of Trustees, we have real momentum. I couldn’t be more pleased by the talent we’ve gathered to oversee this great new institution.”

The Academy said the group, which met as a group for the first time yesterday, “will be responsible for overseeing the museum’s strategic vision, preserving the organization’s financial health, and assuring the fulfillment of its mission.”

The 300,000-square-foot Academy Museum designed by Renzo Piano will sit on Fairfax and Wilshire boulevards in Los Angeles.

In October, museum director Kerry Brougher announced major gifts from Bloomberg Philanthropies, Sarandos’ Netflix, the Charles V. Roven Family Foundation and the Thomas Spiegel Family Foundation push the fundraising past the $300 million mark. Its goal is $388M.
